How to play Thin Ice

Cross the pond, breaking every tile. Step on each tile once, and only once.

You are the disc. Every tile has to break

1/15
0 moves 路 par 9
  • You are the disc. Move one tile at a time with the arrow pad, the arrow keys, or a tap on the tile beside you
  • Every tile has to be stepped on, and it breaks as you leave it. The checkered tile is the finish: break every other tile, then end there
  • Polished ice, pale and striped, carries you on in the same direction until plain ice, a stone or the edge stops you, and every tile you cross breaks
  • Stone never breaks and cannot be stood on. A slide stops against it
  • A run is over if you slide into open water, reach a dead end, or break the finish early. Start again as often as you like
  • No clock

Scoring

  • Every move you spend on the pond counts, across every attempt, and taking a move back does not refund it. Par is the fewest moves a crossing can be done in, shown before you start
  • A crossing at par is worth 500 points. Every move over par costs 5, and finishing never pays less than 100
  • Even par is Wow. Up to 25% of par in wasted moves is Cat, up to 70% is Jam, and getting across at all is Yay

Tips

  • The checkers are the last tile to break, so work back from them
  • Count a slide before you commit. The bar shows exactly where you come to rest
  • Corridors decide themselves. Spend your thinking on the open middle
